Lo Stambecco

Gran Paradiso, the nearly unspoiled pearl at the heart of the Aosta region with its green valleys and snow covered peaks. It has been a while this region was on our wish list and this summer we picked the campsite “Lo Stambecco” as our base for discovering the area.

At an altitude of over 1600 metres, we were lucky to find relief for the heat reigning over the south of Europe and enjoined temperatures around 25°C. People frequenting the mountains in the Aosta valley told us that this is unusually warm making the glaciers melt faster, the rivers swell and the wildlife move higher in the mountains. For us it meant a slower pace uphill and nice long evenings in front of our tent.
